Good evening. I want to take a moment to introduce myself and Hancock Agricultural Investment Group (HAIG). My name is Mark Royall and I am the Southeast Regional Acquisitions Manager for HAIG. I source farmland investment opportunities from Alabama to Virginia. HAIG (www.haig.com) is a division of Hancock Natural Resource Group, Inc., a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of John Hancock Financial. HAIG was founded in 1990, and is one of the largest managers of farmland investments for institutional investors. Our firm acquires, develops and manages diversified, high-quality permanent and row-crop farmland portfolios throughout the major agricultural regions around the globe. Today, we manage more than 350,000 acres of farmland with an approximate value of $2.5 billion (USD). We have significant investment in permanent crops such as wine grapes, walnuts, pistachios and apple orchards and in row crops such as corn, soybean, peanuts, potatoes and fresh produce. We own more than 50,000 acres of row-crop land in the Southeast United States, with approximately 30,000 irrigated acres located in Georgia. Our investment strategy is to acquire quality farmland in favorable agricultural markets, develop the property to achieve optimal productivity and resource efficiency, partner with local farmers/tenants, and manage the assets as good stewards of the land, the environment and the community on behalf of our investors over a long term horizon. Additionally, we can work with landowners and their advisors to expand their farming footprint, or alternatively, assist with financial strategies, including disposition, estate planning, and succession planning.
